the world outside ~ January 2, 2002 - 12:34 a.m.

new year, y'all... feels like it's full of possibilities. may they come to fruition for us all.

2002 feels like a good number. a nice, symmetrical number. I still can't get used to this century. that world-keeps-on-turnin' thang.

we just left san francisco; that's where we spent new year's and the day before. we had a nice hotel room on the 22nd floor of the hyatt, and spent a couple of days running around. we actually had a lot of fun, and ozone wasn't hardly even moody.

one of the first things we did when we got to town was to take ourselves on a shopping trip at good vibrations. can you believe that it's the first time I've ever been there? good vibrations kicks ass. clean, well lit, fulla sex toys-- and not at all skeezy. co-op owned. we managed to spend close to two hundred dollars on a bagful of goodies.

oh yes, wouldn't you like to know.

well, I will tell you about one thing, 'cause it's pretty fucking cool. the kama sutra board game. we played it last night, for hours, and it was great. such a good way to explore sensuality from different directions. it also created a good space for talking about wants and desires and sensations. we wound up talking a lot while we were playing, about what we were experiencing, and about how different things feel. we both had learned new things about each other by the end of it. and it was fun as hell.

we got to hang out with jeffrey on new year's too, which I don't get to do nearly enough. we walked and talked and drank coffee and talked and laughed and talked. I decided to live it up and drink two double lattes. sometimes I'm so clean it makes me sick. oooooh-- you drank coffee?! oh yeah, livin' high.

today we went to the exploratorium, which was incredibly cool. we had reservations for the tactile dome, which is this geodesic dome thing inside the museum. it's pitch dark inside, and you crawl and climb and slide through this twisting tunnel thing filled with all kinds of objects and textures and funkiness. no vision, just touch. very, very cool.

and then the exploratorium itself is this big interactive science museum with all kinds of really cool stuff to play with. highly recommended.

then we went to fisherman's wharf and did the ripley's believe it or not museum, which was touristy tacky but surprisingly fun.

and we were gonna go see stomp, but it turns out there's no show tonight, it being the day it is (was)... so we went to the red vic movie house instead and saw baraka, which I've been meaning to see for years, and which was incredible. beautiful. baraka is a sufi expression which means roughly "that essence of life which leads to evolution", or something like that. gorgeous. see it on the big screen if you can.

and west african food for dinner at massawa. mmmmmmm... check 'em out next time you're on the haight.

a good day. we're going back to san jose now, to crash on the mattress on the floor of ozone's empty house, still not rented... know anyone who needs a place to live in san jose? we need to get ourselves into a home outside of san jose. that's something like thing one. 'cause I don't want to do this much longer. I'm ready to settle out for a while. roadweary angel needs a home to rest her head. it'll happen. I know it.

previously... * and then...
