revisiting temp girl world ~ October 24, 2003 - 9:48 a.m.

it looks like I'll have some time to catch up on my e-mail today. that is such a good thing.

the morning was a little chaotic to begin with, though. I rode downtown with my mom this morning, right on time for my temp job. trouble was, the temp agency had given me the wrong address-- told me 250 WEST wisconsin instead of 250 EAST.

so. rushing down the road in the early morning chill. ten minutes late. I have a near-perfect record with the temp agency, and I wasn't anxious to screw it up.

it's funny, though-- 'cause my attitude as a temp teeters somewhere between being proud of my near-perfect record and "screw it-- this ain't my life."

so even as I was rushing down the road, I was reminding myself that even if they were pissed off at me-- it's just a temp job.

and it turned out that no one was pissed. a couple of nice guys let me in. no one seems to be interested in being particularly in charge of me. plus, the atmosphere here is pretty relaxed. which surprised me, since the temp agency asked if I had a suit.

I'm more or less left alone at my desk up front with the phone. one of the nice guys just poked his head in to ask if everything was alright. just fine, I told him.

the one thing that worries me is that the phone hasn't actually *rung* yet, and that seems odd for ten o'clock in the morning. but then, maybe this is just that kind of office. let's just hope there isn't something funny going on with the phone.

and so far, I haven't been given any other duties besides answering the phone, so it looks like it may be that kind of temp job. good for me. I need to catch up on my e-mail anyway.

is it me, or have my entries been deeply uninteresting lately? ah well. it's my movie.
