all kinds of tail-wagging ~ December 2, 2002 - 12:52 a.m.

I had to get out of the house today, otherwise I was just going to sit around and stew in my own juices. I had to go to mount madonna anyway, to dig up the title of the bike, which I'm trying to sell. the good news is, I've already got some people interested.

I drove down santa cruz way, and stopped at boulder creek for lunch at the blue sun. what happened to your arm? I wrecked my bike.

it happens, you know? you ride motorcycles, and sooner or later you're gonna fall down.

I stopped by to see my bike after lunch, and I was surprised how little damage there really is. I mean, yes, the handlebars are mangled, the gas tank is dented, but most of the bike is pretty much intact. I decided to raise my price, since I already had at least two people willing to drop $500 for it. now I'm asking $700, which is most of what I figure I'll need for a plane ticket to laos.

we'll see.

after that I headed up to the mountain, where I dug through my stuff in storage and found the title to the bike. I grabbed a bunch of other stuff while I had a car at my disposal, laptop and clothes and things. somehow I need to get my stuff together for spending six months in laos within the next couple of weeks, since I'm heading to milwaukee for christmas after that. if I can make it work, I may well fly out of milwaukee. so even though a plane ticket is a questionable reality, I just need to keep functioning as if I AM going to laos by the first of the year.

that seems to be how I make things happen.

at mount madonna I also found august and rajani, two women I just absolutely adore, and we had dinner together and talked long lazy loops about southeast asia and all kinds of things.

came home to excited puppydogs, who I'd promised a walk to, since they've been more or less in the house for three days. we were all feeling a little cabin-feverish, I think. kendo was starting to type all work and no play makes kendo a dull boy over and over, that kind of thing.

so we went for a walk, which was fun, and which I managed better than I thought I would, cast and all. I'm getting used to managing with it. I'm even getting used to typing without my thumb.

you should see me brush my teeth left-handed, though. it's pretty hilarious.

ariana and andre are coming home tomorrow. there's gonna be all kinds of tail-wagging going on.
