detoxing ~ September 3, 2003 - 8:06 p.m.

I'm fasting.

I've been thinking about it for a while, and I finally decided that I just have to do it. I have access to a juicer, money for organic veggies &etc., a house to stay in, and no particular responsibilities for the next length of time. it's a good scenario. and I need it. I've been detoxing from lao ever since I came back to the states.

it feels good. I've done fasts before, but not for a long time. the first twenty-four hours are always the hardest, and then you get into the groove. I'm already halfway there.

I just finished off a big scary-looking jar of carrot-beet-garlic-ginger-sprouts-spinach-apple-lemon juice, with a dose of hemp oil. mmmmm. really, it's not as bad as it sounds. my whole body's buzzing with it.

but don't be surprised if I get a little manic or a little funky over the next few days. fasting is wild. your energy cranks way up, because your body doesn't have to expend so much digesting food, and your moods get super intense, because there's no eating-distraction in the way of what you're feeling.

all in all, it's a good thing to do once in a while.

I promised I'd try to tell you a bit about strawberry, but I'm not feeling settled enough at the moment. I'll check in later...
