...the ones I love best...

fire on the mountain ~ September 23, 2002 - 11:54 p.m.

I'm exhausted, so this won't be long.

I'm badly needing to focus my energy. there's just too much demanding my attention right now. I'm behind on some of the organizational stuff I need to be doing for my trip, in part because I've been so obsessed with problem-solving my bike crisis.

and everything. and everything. too much, but it will all come together.

I want to stay up and finish all the internet tasks I need to be doing, but I am just too tired. and fighting something off, probably the chest cold that everyone around me, including my lover, has right now.

and the air is filled with smoke. I came back up the mountain to find that there's a big fire burning not so far away. they don't think we're in danger. but there's a tension in the air, more people up this late than usual. and smoke. my throat dry, my eyes stinging.

I'm having the sense that if I don't go to bed now, I'm going to get sick. definitely the last thing I need at the moment.

in the morning, I catch up to my life.
