...the ones I love best...

the laying on of hands ~ February 16, 2003 - 8:00 p.m.

I'm a little sunburned and all kinds of tired, but lovely, really. it's just been such a big weekend. I am now trained, initiated, and attuned to practice reiki, on myself and on others.

oh, it's just really and truly amazing. I don't have the energy right now to even attempt to explain it all, but I'm just awfully excited about reiki.

and elif is fantastic. she's married, so don't even think about it, but I've just so truly enjoyed getting to know her. she and I clicked immediately.

somehow today took us from reiki to the herbal sauna at a nearby temple... a woman from the workshop took us there, and elif and I steamed and drank tea and got lao massages.

this place is much nicer than the one noemi took me to-- a little wooden building surrounded by greenery, palms and vines and flowers. so lazy and lovely and loose.

and then elif still had two attunements to give me, so she and I walked around looking for a good spot. we settled on a stone bench in the dappled shade of a tree, with chanting from the temple harmonizing to the riot of birdsong.

basically, having the attunements mean that my energy channels have been opened and unblocked. my chakras are lovely and active. every day for the next three weeks, I am to perform reiki on myself in order to clear out the old, stagnant energy I've been holding on to.

but already, my energy is amped. I can feel it. that's the most incredible thing. I didn't really believe I'd feel that different right away, but the energy is just absolutely humming through me. especially my hands.

after all of that, elif and I went back to the club, and then we went downtown to pick up her son, a three year old aquarian named tenzin, who her husband had been attempting to watch all day. she and I and tenzo walked, attempting to run an unsuccessful errand, sat and talked at a corner soymilk stand, and finally went our separate ways. I am so glad this woman has come into my life.

she and reiki both. so much to be grateful for, so many blessings to offer up to the full moon.

and the whole world is rallying for peace.

now it's time for me to head home and prepare-- tomorrow I start teaching the fourth grade.
