cool cats and jailbait in san diego ~ 2000-11-30 - 02:47:30

LA made me want to smoke clove cigarettes.

I'm digging on san diego, though. I came down here for the reading at the claire de lune coffeehouse. sharon elise, the beautiful poetwoman who I featured with in long beach, said I had to come down and check it out, and she was right. beautiful crowd, packed house, great energy. I went up last in a long list of readers, and the people who were left had that sleepy, saturated-with-poetry look, so I knew I had to make my one piece count. I got up and did dreaming in color, and watched the eyes opening wide, people sitting up. they roared when I was done, and I came down off the stage and sold 6 cds in 5 minutes. BAM! a chunk of moneystress, gone. they fed me all kindsa love, and I met this great bunch of poetry kids, high energy, cool cats, and they took me home to hang out, gave me a place to crash. judah works at a 24hourfitness joint, so today he took me down and hooked me up with a free workout. it felt so good, I worked it until all my muscles were shaking. it's been too long since I've been rock climbing, my body's turning to mush. now, I'm not a body fascist, I love all kinds of bodies, but I have to say-- I LIKE having muscles. rah, I'm a tough chick.

now I'm at yet another reading, and there's a woman here who is quite possibly one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. I've been checking her out all night. she was just on stage, singing, rich, gorgeous voice, well-crafted songs, and I was all but drooling when this sister named shannon leaned over and said-- "she's sixteen". oh, my.

life is good. tomorrow I think I may head out to the desert to camp for a few days, so if I'm out of touch, that's why. but then, you never can tell...

previously... * and then...
