...the ones I love best...

lighter, and brighter ~ December 29, 2003 - 10:57 p.m.

much, much better.

I'm too exhausted to write much, but I just wanted to check in because today was just wonderful. seriously, it felt like all my stars were lined up. and what's really funny about that is that I spent the whole day at work.

but it was just one of those really *good* work days, you know? we were bizarrely busy for a monday. mondays I'm on long, which means I open, then work through lunch, the long afternoon, and then the beginning of the dinner shift. mondays are usually pretty dead. even with all that, sometimes I just walk away with forty dollars or so.

not tonight, nuh-uh.

we were crazy busy all day and all night. I wound up working open to close and walking away with about $150. which I badly need, since my bank account is overdrawn by about hundred bucks, and I'm still saving my security deposit for karina. today makes it all okay. and the best thing about it is that I was totally, and completely, on it. everything just hummed away all day long. I gave great service, and folks were just throwing their money at me. gotta love it.

it also helps that my crush greeted me with a deepwarm smile and shiny eyes this morning, and when he asked how I was and I said good, he said yeah, you look good, too.

funny what a difference the little things can make, in a place so cold. everything feels a little lighter now, a little brighter.

the way it always does after a time, after a stretch of road so dark and deep.
