sleepy solstice ~ June 21, 2002 - 7:18 p.m.

solstice blessings, lovelies...

I came home from dancing sweaty and wired last night at 1:30 in the morning, sat down and wrote a whole long entry about dancing and growing up and heather and gretchen... and then lost the whole thing to transient net connections. I hate it when that happens.

but I guess that's what non-attachment is all about. those stories still exist, and I'll get around to telling them someday.

I don't really have much energy for writing today, but it was feeling like that last entry has been sitting there for way too long.

I went into santa cruz with matthew and rosemary last night... we were going to go to "colors", a rave thing that used to happen at the vet's hall on thursdays, but it turned out that they've stopped having it. so, since we were all in the mood to go dancing, we went to 80's night at the blue lagoon.

not my favorite club, but we had fun. and good, deep conversation in the van on the way home, while we shared french fries from the saturn.

then we got back here and I sat down at the computer for 3 hours, to finish a resume for this thing I want to do. I finished it, and that feels great, but then I only got about 3 hours of sleep before starting my day.

so, you know, I'm a little wrecked. but I took a nap this afternoon, and now I'm just softly tired.

this afternoon I also fixed the headlights on my motorcycle, which made me feel like a big stud. it was a ridiculously easy fix, but it still felt good that I was able to do it myself. empirical evidence suggested the problem was a broken switch, so I went to radio shack, found a replacement switch, came home and installed it.

and it works. oh yes, it works.

now, if I can just figure out the other thing... it may just be a dirty air filter, or it may be a problem with the carburetor, or the ignition system... we're hoping for the dirty air filter thing. because that's what I can afford to fix right now.

and I'm hoping that it will just run well enough to get me into downtown santa cruz and back. because there's this all-night dance ritual solstice thing tonight, and I really want to go. hopefully my bike will make that possible.

and hopefully I'll have better stories to tell tomorrow.
