woman on the verge... ~ May 11, 2003 - 10:05 p.m.

today was a good day, in spite of the fact that I didn't get half the things done that I wanted to. like cleaning my bedroom, or scrubbing the kitchen floor. but what the hell.

I washed some clothes and dishes, had some breakfast, and then rode my motorbike out to wat sok pa luang, which is a temple where they have a nice herbal sauna. it's really lovely and relaxing there, surrounded by lush greenery and flowers. there's a deck where you can relax and drink tea to cool off from the sauna, and the whole thing costs 50 cents.

so I broiled myself, and chatted with folks, and relaxed and drank tea and had a lovely afternoon. then I headed back down to the mekong to meet up with johanna. she and I went to a restaurant called "sticky fingers", which I've been meaning to check out forever. it's a farang hangout, very westernized, but just really nice and comfortable. david, the very cool guy who sold me the motorbike and his friend bruce were playing guitar there tonight. we sat and ate a sumptuous meal and listened to great music and just really had a time. just what I needed.

and tomorrow it's back to school... I'm working on my resume, since I've come to the conclusion that I'd be better off at a different school if I'm going to stay here for another year. everyone keeps bringing up honour international school, who apparently are in need of teachers right now, and there's also a montesorri school I want to check into.

so we'll see.

I'm feeling a bit better every day, although I've got a bit of a sinus headache at the moment. I'm getting there, though.

I had a massage that kicked ass last night. the guy really worked me. lao massage is fantastic. it really does just stretch everything out, get everything back into alignment. that and the sauna really have me feeling much more with it.

it feels like I'm on the verge of something, but I don't know what.

when I find out, I'll let you know...
